MYANMAR FLOWER PORTRAITS

Yangon, Myanmar

Series Painted Fall 2024 - Spring 2025
Oil on Canvas with charcoal or oil pastel underdrawings.

In Myanmar, flower sellers arrive before dawn. The markets bloom with a multitude. Roses, Jasmine, and Chrysanthemum—petals glowing in the morning light. Each is an offering: fragrant, humble, and enduring. The series, Myanmar Flower Portraits, emerged from these rituals—returning again and again to the same vendors, selecting blooms that spoke of quiet resilience. The paintings became a record not just of flowers, but of shared moments—of beauty exchanged in silence, of persistence woven into the everyday.
Between 2017-2025 I have lived between Myanmar (Burma) and the United States, spending more than five years fully immersed in the country. This experience has shaped both my life and my practice in profound ways.
